Agreed, those variants are definitely worth mining I am probably going to switch out Witch and TK for the Anti-Progress achievement, but keep the point system the same for now (mostly because I might forget how many points a scenario is worth, and I also expect there to be a lot more challenges to start juggling around and keeping track of. Oddly enough, it appears the CoE3 Trial by Fire forum thread on Desura has rode off into the sunset. Haha. Oh well, I will let the "select few" find this place.

Old threads on Desura a hard to find unless they are pinned. Your thread is still there but chances are nobody will see it. Started a witch-hunter challenge, looks like it's going to be fun. It's early in the midgame and I already see a witch with a creeping doom. Nice, my only magic assets are Sun Helm (fire immunity) and a hedge wizard who knows not a single damage-dealing spell. I see also a Demonologist who is accompanied by a Greater Demon armed with the Infernal Torch. I WANT that torch! I have some witches to burn.

I posted about it on some of the more important forums. I suppose I could continue to some of the lesser ones.

Going to try The Witch Hunter next. This looks like it could hurt if the game goes on long on this Huge map. The end game summons scare me already!

Really? A choice of two nations and you say roll 1d4-2? Even in my DnD days we used a two sided dice (a penny)

It might be best to change "A Small Disagreement" to remove the second roll. If you roll Dwarf then you fight Burgmeister and vice versa. Seems like same vs same is easier to win than different.

Also on the Part of a Tribe: the second roll means you will never play Baron. I cant seem to come up with an AutoHotKey script for that one. A bit too involved for my skills there. But I did come up with a CGI for it. www.coe-3.com/bin/PartoftheTribe.cginow if only we had all the commands to make a playable server game out of it

More and more Im beginning to think that a certain level on these Trials should be a requirement before making suggestions about the game.

I put together a python (2.7) script that will generate choices for the players in the scenarios in the Trial By Fire. The script (trials.py) can be found here. For Justice League and Legion of Doom, I set up the script to randomly choose 4 nations from their respective groups, rather than as contiguous subsets (I figure that this is to facilitate choosing them with a single die roll per team). With this, now I only need to come up with the fancy terrain frequencies used in map generation for each society, and my Trial By Fire scenario generator will be complete.

Thanks a ton mtadd, this is totally fantastic! Great work. Definitely will put it to good use Also, your script reminded me to go back and add a map size designation for each trial (for clarity). By the way, in terms of the challenges, I'm trying to make more class-specific challenges and to add a few more easy challenges so that a player can build their way up to the more difficult ones. As I've played through many of these, I find that they are quite hard (not a bad thing, but I don't want to make them ridiculously impossible--really, I would like to have a list of fun and challenging achievements). Another thought is that I may change many previous challenges to smaller map sizes, so that there aren't long, drawn out games that go on forever (as I've had a few of those and they are simply not fun). Maybe make most of the huge and enormous maps just be large (except challenges with more than 6 players). A lot of you have gotten to try the challenges, and if you're like me, you've probably attempted a lot and failed. I'd like to hear your comments on what is overly difficult or what was absolutely grueling/boring to play. Also, which ones were the most fun? I really want to refine the list. Also, as we get modding capabilities, there will be a lot of room for fun additional challenges. I think there is a whole lot of awesome stuff to be had here. I just wish I could reward the dedicated ones with something more than a numerical score By the way, to all the prospective scenario creators, I would love for you all to contribute to the challenge because I think that thoughtful scenarios will make for some really fun challenges. Any suggestions or recommendations for changes to particular challenges (as well as reorganization of trials based on difficulty... since I haven't gotten to try a lot of them, I'm not entirely sure of the subtle differences in difficulty)? Please, don't hold back and let the comments flow.

I took the command-line version of the trial generator, and made a web version for those unable to access it. Try it out at mtadd.coe-3.com

Any suggestions or recommendations for changes to particular challenges I recommend making "An Absolute Bash" easier. I tried it three times and I wasn't even close to figuring out a working approach for this, because it was impossible to even build up a little and because of Common Cause all rushing was useless. To make it easier in a funny way, I'd suggest disabling "Common Cause", this will encourage some tactics or to get some time building up make it a huge or enormous map.

Request granted, an absolute bash now has Common Cause set to off. Thank you very much for your feedback. I anticipate it will still be extra difficult (which may be changed, especially since the AI gets improved) Also reordered it because I think it might be the hardest challenge so far... I saw on the Quarter to Three forums where someone completed the One Against the World Challenge with a Priest King. Said person should sign up on the forum for credit if they ever run across this post By the way, for those that have completed a lot of trials please make suggestions as to the current order. I think so far that You're Just a Commoner, A Little Disagreement, and Eye for an Eye justice are the "entry level" challenges.
