any chance anyone can curb the amount of independants that spawn but maybe increase the numbers in each stack? aka lower the amount by 75% but increase each stack by 2 or 3 times ..so instead of 50 stacks around the map there are only 13..and instead of 2 moose per stack there are now 8?

That has been done a few times kindof. Check out the wildlife mod and the cheat code mod.
I suppose a merging of the two would work. The cheat code that cleans the map of all independents, and then a lot of code to put groups back. It could even add lots of exciting new groups (like a mod Im working on now).
But I think you might want it as a map instead of a mod. A mod cannot (at this time) see how big a map is so it could not decide how many or how large groups to put. Unless you have some idea of how many and how large you would find acceptale for all maps.
Or even a random range? 10 to 20 groups? 10 to 20 units in each? But if it was done as a downloadable map then it would be better. You would know how big it was. You could set the right number and right size with smaller randomness. It could be offered as a downloadable "something alittle different to try" type of map. You could even include quests and rewards and worldwide events.

ahh thanks for the reply I only play on the big maps right now...well if im gonna go with mods are there any good ones around for sp...dont see anything much yet or im blind

Im working on some but not yet. You might look in MAPs. Particularly the Basic Large Map Maps for CoE3 are more than just a place to play on. They can also contain surprises and game changes
