Whew, finally finished this one! I first tried it as a Witch vs a Baron, Barbarian, Senator, Pale One, Burgmeister, Warlock and Enchanter. I was doing fairly well and reduced most factions to near nothing, but the Warlock was allowed to grow very powerful armies of elementals and I just couldn't counter them well enough in time as they were immune to my poisons. I didn't really get eliminated, but didn't see a way I was going to win without getting extremely lucky.
The second try went much better and I was able to win on turn 169 as a Burgmeister vs a Baron, Barbarian, Senator, Pale One, Enchanter, High Priestess and Priest King. Fortunately for me, I was only fighting a couple factions at a time with the map being so large. End game it took forever to march my little hoburgs to the other end of the map to finally eliminate the Priest King and Senator. I had a real hard time getting horologists available to hire to summon constructs and dragons, but the one I had at the start did really well. The constructs are awesome, especially the ones that have ranged elemental attacks from the back rows. I will welcome being able to move more than 2 moves a turn again though . I am not sure what age I had, but there were tons of Old Castles guarded by a Vampire with troops in each. I also noticed that each time I took an Old Castle they seemed to have one additional magic item as a reward in addition to whatever they were carrying at the start of the battle.
Overall I really like this challenge as it gives a good scenario to try out different factions and normally with the map being so large you don't fight too many factions at once. Also, with them only being Jester level you don't have to be at a disadvantage vs any one faction. The map does get very large at the end and I now know what gp meant when he couldn't understand anyone playing higher than a 128 x 128 map. That would be crazy , but possibly fun someday!
